We are always looking for talented Debian contributors who embrace our mission statement and our values. If you are among them, and in particular if you fit in one ore more of the roles described below, please reach out to the Freexian managers.
Note that we expect all Freexian collaborators to be official Debian members. If you don’t have that status yet, ideally you have some history of contributions and you should be willing to apply to Debian’s new member process.
Also be aware that people applying for a technical position typically must have the skills required to help with our LTS and ELTS services, and must be willing to work part-time on security updates for old versions of Debian (see “Software developers” role below).
Non-technical & support roles
Sales manager
The volume of our activity reaches the point where administrative work to handle sales and renewals almost justifies a dedicated position. As sales manager you would:
- Respond to sales queries
- Issue quotes/invoices
- Handle renewals
- Manage contracts
- Find new customers
- Respond to tenders
A good fraction of our customers are French speaking so knowledge of French is an advantage.
Marketing manager
To continue to feed our natural growth, we want to build up our online presence. As marketing manager you would:
- Build our presence on social networks
- Feed our website with useful content
- Create & improve marketing material
- Work to get Freexian known
- Identify prospects for the sales team
Project manager / Executive
As project manager/executive, you would reinforce Freexian’s leadership team to cope with Freexian’s growth. Typically you will have to:
- Understand Freexian’s roadmap and drive collaborators towards those goals
- Manage both customer and internal projects, and staff them with collaborators
- Ensure collaborators feel well and know their priorities
- Onboard new collaborators
- Ensure (new) legal requirements are met
- Ensure our services meet the needs of our customers
Technical roles
Software developers
We need developers who are able to provide security updates for our customers. Requirements:
- have a good understanding of computer security issues;
- be able to read and write code in many different programming languages;
- know Debian packaging and Debian security-related processes.
Developers will also be tasked to build Freexian’s internal infrastructure and new service offerings. Our software stack is based on Python (and Django for the web part).
Debian experts
We need Debian experts that have a broad experience in IT and building custom solutions with Debian. We have customers that are looking for our help to:
- audit their infrastructure and workflows, often in relationship with building their own derivative;
- troubleshoot problems;
- package software for Debian;
- better interact with Debian;
- get advice on new projects, etc.
